The Caille Bros. tradition of beautiful artwork and design is reflected in the very ornate cast front of the Sphinx. This \"Anthony and Cleopatra\" design shows the influence of the great Hollywood epics of the day, an influence that also extended to many nightclub interiors employing slot machines. The Sphinx had a highly polished, cast aluminum finish with the figures and trim painted in green, red, brown and gold enamel. The colorful front with the animated, moving ladder of coins in the escalator made this model a popular number.

The Sphinx was the last slot made by the Caille Brothers Co. It came in both three-reel and four-reel models. The theme design was an attempt to compete with the new Mills line.
