1922 CG Conn 26B trumpetI\'m selling a nice playing Conn trumpet from 1922 - a 26B Symphony. Bore size is .459, the same as the 2B. Much more common from this era are the smaller bore 22B trumpets which look the same. Conn trumpets before 1926 are not marked with a model number. I have given the instrument a basic cleaning, replaced corks and felts, greased the slides and oiled the valves. All slides pull. It would likely benefit from a chem cleaning, but plays fine. Compression is reasonable for a horn this age. There is minimal blow-by on all of the valves, the first valve having a little more than the other two. Still, the horn plays nicely throughout the registers, and the valves are quick and smooth. There are small dings here and there on the horn and a small dent in the bell bow. Even though I polished the horn I noticed some small spots on the plate. I\'m guessing these would polish out with more vigorous polishing. Trumpet comes with what I believe to be the original mouthpiece and the rotary \"A\" tuning slide. The rotor is frozen, and I didn\'t want to attempt to work on it. Stop rod is missing. Case is a replacement likely from the 1940s, and is worn but does the job and it doesn\'t smell bad. Questions gladly answered. Thanks for looking. What Conn said:
The 26B trumpet possesses the same bore as the popular 2B but is built of a little heavier gauge brass for the players who like to put \"steam\" behind their performance. It also has the advantage of being somewhat lower in price. For symphony and concert playing, here is a beautiful instrument.
