1910 E-UNC Honus Wagner SGC 20 From Richard Egan Collection For Sale

An exceedingly rare Honus Wagner with only 2 examples ever having surfaced and both have been graded by SGC. The ink, paper, text and style are circa 1910. The card is very similar to an E104 but clearly not from that set. So far it remains a mystery how these cards were distributed and who manufactured them. There are a few other common cards which collectors seem to associate with the same set but to date this issue has not been cataloged. This example happens to have come directly from the collection of hobby pioneer Richard Egan, making it that much more interesting. The grading companies call this a C. 1910 E UNC Candy issue but some in the hobby refer to the issue as the Blue Caption set. Please see the large scan below this description.
