1893 Plains Indian Presentation Pipe Tomahawk Buffalo Bill Wild West Pewter Head For Sale

For sale is a very special piece of Native American history, it\'s a pipe tomahawk and it\'s kind of a dual symbol. The tomahawk\'s a sign of war, and the pipe is a sign of peace. And it works as a pipe and as a tomahawk, the handle is a little weak to use as a tomahawk, but the Plains Indians and tribes all throughout the U.S. carried these as signs of authority. The stem on it or the haft, is ash, and it\'s been decorated with brass tacks, and these are old tacks. The shank on the tack is square and brass also, so it\'s an early tack. Beautiful piece. The head is extremely rare, its cast pewter and belonged to one of Buffalo Bill\'s troop Indians. Its exceptional quality. The pewter head does show a few dings and blemishes as expected with a piece this old. The haft has some age cracks but its a solid as a rock. The beaded drop is very long and really makes the tomahawk come to life! Tomahawk dates 1893 or later. I don\'t know a lot about the exact origin but my husband bought this at an sale in Casper Wyoming in the late 1960\'s The stem is over 2 feet long and the head of the tomahawk is 10 and a half inches long. The beaded drop is 31 inches long with the fringe included. I hate to sell this but my husband has long since passed away and I need to sell some of his collection to make ends meet.
