Here is an antique Sonora hand crankphonograph. It is big - about36 inches tall,36 inches wide and22 inches deep.
Floor model with all wood console. Made in theearly 1900\'s. It says under top lid \"SONORA Higestscore for tone at Panama Pacific Exposition 1915\". I think it is all original.
It cranks up and runs. There is a piece broke off the head (photo #11). You can hold the head with your hand and it will play the record. It plays the old 78 speed records. The speed control works and the shut-off works when it reaches end of record.
It has a soundtunnel built into the cabinet, I suppose this was made before the days of speakers.
Hinged lid and the 2 side door hinges are good. The center door has some damage issues on bottom corners of door.
Has inlaid wood on doors. Is missing a trim strip on right side bottom of cabinet. The long bottom runner has separation of joint (looks like rather easy glue job repair). It has some chipping on the ornate legs.
It has overall signs of aging and wear but still basically pretty sound for a rare old antique like this.
Ihave notedall of thebreaks, damages, alterations, and repairs that I see.
Some ageing and wear as would be expected. See photos for cosmetic condition.
