Vintage Faberge Gatchina Palace Egg Frame and Portrait
This sale is for the frame and portrait only. There is no original packaging or paperwork included, nor are any other parts of the egg included.
This is the \"Surprise\" for the vintage Faberge\' Gatchina Palace Egg as both sold online and retailers such as Neiman Marcus. I do not know where it was originally purchased.
This is the portrait of the Dowager Empress Marie of Russia, who used the Gatchina Palace as her main Summer residence after the death of her husband Alexander III. It is small due to the fact that the frame was made to in the small, velvet lined \"well\" that you find under the Gold Plated model of the Gatchina Palace. The roundl frame is set with faux pearls and Austrian Crystals.
To be clear, this is the vintage portrait included at the time of manufacture. Looks to me like they printed off a copy of a portrait they found online, sized it to fit the frame, and then cut it out. It is not an original photo or painting of the Empress.This is what they did for the vintage reproductions.
At the time of this being posted for sale there is/was a Faberge \"Imperial Gatchina Palace Egg\" listed for sale on .You can see how this frame is part of the whole, should you wish. I also found pictures of the set on other sites on the internet, but did not want to take their pictures for my purposes.
The sale is for the frame only, and is sold shown in as is condition.
Looks to me to be in very good vintage condition, but judge for yourself.
