GADWALLDRAKE--TOTALLY HAND-CARVED,by Master Decoy Carver, John A. Kouchinsky,avid duck hunter and carver of award winning traditional and hunting decoys. My decoys have been very much influenced by the fact that I lived on Eastern Long Island most of my life, I am now retired and living on the coast of South Carolina. I try to create decoys that will become a treasure, not just something to fill an empty spot on someones mantle.

Thisdecoy is REALLY an ORIGINAL, a\" ONE-OF-A-KIND\", that noone else will ever have, as I cannot possibly carve each bird exactly alike, because my decoys are TOTALLY hand carved and detailed, no duplicating machines are EVER used, and I take NO shortcuts. I carve birds from just a simple gunning decoy to intricately detailed works of DECORATIVE ART,AS THIS ONE IS, AS IT IS HIGHLY DETAILED. There are also hunting Gadwall on this site.

I have been carving award winning decoys for over50 years now. I have been a participant in many U.S. NATIONAL DECOY SHOWS, winning many awards for PROFESSIONAL FIRST IN CLASS. I have also been a participant in many EASTON WATERFOWL FESTIVALS, in Maryland ( which most of you know is by invitation only), I was invited for ten years in a row. My works are in collections all around this country and internationally. I have been published in hunting and decoy books and magazines and even received a mention in the Wildfowler Decoy book by Richard Cowan and Richard LaFountaine.Many have been purchased for Corporate and Political gifts. Many years ago, my works were sold at Crossroads of Sports in Manhattan and were listed in their catalog I also did works for Orvis.

Every bird is made from my own patterns ...Dimensions Beak to tail14 inches x7 high x6 1/2wide. Decoy is hollow carved ofTupelo wood ,Jelutong head, Ipec wings for greater strength. Each decoy is sealed and hand painted with artist acrylics.
