I just received the best looking white/ multi-color hats I have found in 10 years of importing these exotic hats , truly \"Multi-Color\" Pheasant feather pristine fresh examples... These hats were originally intended for use in a ceremonial dance costume in the grassland region of Cameroon ... they have long been collected by people in the west for their rare beauty and vibrant colors ..The center of production of the hats is the small town of Baffosam and surrounding villages ..extended families have worked together for generations , weaving the raffia , tying feathers to the wood sticks to create these amazing geometric works of art , today it has become a cottage industry . Many small colorful shops line the street of the central market where you can visually inspect and purchase hats and masks.. It is amazing to see the growing prosperity that is connected to the increasing popularity of these hats ..I first became interested in the Bamileke on a 2004 trip to Cameroon & West Africa and began selling these Headdresses in 2005 and have sold them on every other year since then . I just returned from a trip to Africa in july and met a new artisan and his family who are superb hat makers , I think the hats in this shipment are some of the finest I have ever seen . the family is also very innovative in their shipping as well and the hats arrived here in pristine condition . (Shipping) - packing the hats for transport is key ..I have worked out a simple method of stabilizing the hats with a inverted cone to hold it in place . this is a necessary to insure the hat is not damaged in transport ..It has worked well ..
